Function

The Federal Computer Crime Unit is a special unit of the Belgian Police dedicated to fight computer crimes and other related crimes on federal and international level.

The FCCU works closely with 19 Regional Computer Crime Units of the Belgian Federal Police and with government, ISP, telecoms companies as with other high tech companies.

Yves Vandermeer is Chief Inspector detective in the Intervention team. He and his colleagues are implied in first time reactions for cybercrime attacks on high risk IT systems. Their work consist of house searches, interrogations, and all types of investigations on computers.

Actual activities

  • leading ICT investigations and emergency response on ICT crimes ;
  • trainer for the Computer Crime Units members at the Federal Researchers Police Academy ;
  • author and maintainer of various forensic softwares ;
  • trainer for the ICT investigations in the Solvay Business School security auditors.
